5 Ways to Tame Your Unruly Anger

Do you or someone you know have anger management issues that are irritating you or others around you? Is it to the point that you want to scoop their or your own eyeballs out with a half eaten banana? Maybe try reading this post before you do that.

Channel your anger creatively: Drawing and painting

Sometimes it helps with anger issues to draw, paint or sculpt, anything creative. For some people it may help to express their emotions in a way that is beautiful rather than snap at friends and family around them. It does not have to be perfect, if you are just drawing or painting to help with anger, it could be something as simple as drawing a pattern or even just coloring a coloring book like this one. I have also found that scribbling all over a page with a sharpie until it is completely black can help, however this will quickly wear out a permanent marker so please store them upside down so the ink flows to the tip to make your markers last as long as possible.

“Craft” your anger: Make a fun project

Maybe instead of breaking a vase, make a puppet out of a sock with googly eyes! Something silly and fun to cheer you up and remind yourself to laugh once in awhile. It’s okay to be a little bit dorky every now and then.

Burn out your energy: Play sports

A lot of people with anger issues may enjoy a sport like boxing or wrestling, where they get to attack other people and it is acceptable. Or perhaps a sport like football, that requires a lot of running to burn out energy.n

Go full Godzilla: Smash something!

Got any old glass bottles or pickle jars you would ordinarily just toss away in the trash? Not anymore! Take them into your backyard, lay down a tarp or a trash bag and hit them with something. A stick, a baseball bat, a metal pipe.. anything you can find. I recommend safety goggles and gloves, which you can buy by clicking here for gloves and here for goggles.

Just chill: Cuddle a stuffed animal or pet

Sometimes you just need to distract yourself from whatever is ticking you off. Sometimes stopping to smell the roses or pet an animal can help you calm down quickly, and sometimes carrying around a plush friend can help you too. However, not just any stuffed animal will do, a security stuffed animal is going to help you more than any other. From my stuffed animal sleeping bag tutorial, you saw my stuffed wolf, whose name is Kujo. He is usually by my side to help keep me calmed down. He is a ty beanie baby. If you are interested in getting one just like him for yourself, you canbuy one here.
